More Information

  1. Already completed all these graduation requirements? You're done, no more work is required.
  2. Students earn a regular high school diploma issued in the State of Maine. This is not a GED and not a "Certificate." It is a fully accredited high school diploma.
  3. Maine high school graduates enjoy the same privileges and prestige as graduates from other states, they are accepted at colleges and universities everywhere!
  4. A Maine high school diploma does NOT forfeit your residency. As a resident of your home state, you may still qualify for in-state tuition and scholarship programs.

Credits Required

17 1/2 MINIMUM credits needed:

  • 4 English
  • 2 Math
  • 2 Science
  • 1 Social Studies
  • 1 US History
  • 1 Physical Education
  • 1 Fine Arts
  • 1/2 Computer Skills
  • 1/2 Health
  • 4.5 Electives, your choice

Consider: Some students want their transcripts fuller and richer with more courses or more credits. Students are allowed to have more than the minimum credits. This greatly increases the value of their transcripts, and the possibilities for scholarships, grants, and acceptance at more select colleges.

17-1/2 credits is all you need here.  If you still need to earn credits, you have until August 31 of the following year to earn the credits (at no additional costs).
