NARS is classified by the Dept of Education in Maine as "A private school recognized by the department as providing equivalent instruction." (20-A MRSA §5001-A, sub-§3, ¶A, (b))

Although we have been a State-Recognized Private School for 14 years, as we begin our 15th year we are seeking additional credentials. We are in the accreditation process with the National Private Schools Association. We are officially at the stage called, "Accreditation in Progress."

Their letter (esp. paragraph 4) goes on to say that based on their inspection to date, "At this time we state with confidence that the North Atlantic Regional School Program is actively involved in the Accreditation Process, on track, and expected to achieve full accreditation on or before August 2004."

The results of becoming accredited by NPSA is that our school will move to national accreditation, not merely regional. This extensive process is almost done!
